I Got A Surprise!!

Sent a Block Heater for a 1030 to a customer who called back and said the 3/8" Pipe Threads on the Heater were not correct for his 1030, his block was tapped 1/2" Pipe. Nonsense!! WTF??!! All Diesel Blocks from the 188 Diesel and all Racine blocks were tapped 3/8" Pipe Thread for the Heater. Or so I thought. In the 1030 Parts Book, Blocks before 2174160 were tapped 1/2" Pipe. Blocks 1st used 2174160 had a 3/8" Pipe Tap. So...I said I'd send him a 3/8" to 1/2" Pipe Bushing,............except the heater element will not pass through the bushing. I'm gonna try to drill the bushing to accept the heater. I have never seen a CASE Block Heater w/ 1/2" Pipe Threads. I've been going to the School of Hard Knocks for 73 years and still don't have a Diploma.

You have the same luck as me. If there was one oddball out of a million I would have it!

The block had been replaced on my 1030 when I bought it in 72. It has a 1/2" pipe plug on the left side of the block for oil return from the turbo on a 1200. He might check so he doesn't return coolant into the oil pan.
