I made a mess...

I finished cutting, blocking and hauling out my
30 cord of firewood last week. i use my 46 M and
a homemade trailer to assist me, along with my
Husky saws.
I was cleaning my M this morning after a fall
of sloping through the mud,and i noticed I
messed up one of my rear rims some how.
Whats the best way to fix up this mess? beat on
it with a BFH or take tire off and use heat? Has
anyone fixed this before? Thanks Kent

A few blows with a 2 lb hammer will put it back into place. I wouldn't worry about it myself. Thats a great lookin ol M

Have a huge plastic hammer?other than that you have darn good looking M there..ps.don't sweat the small stuff.

Beat her back in place. Don't accidentally hit that tire - you will have a three stooges moment.

I think all of my little tractors look like that. I wouldn't stress over it. If it bothers you paint the back side so you only see silver there.

Deflate the tire, break it loose from the rim on that side, lay a hammer onto the bent part, and hit it with another big hammer. A few good blows and some paint and it'll be as good as new. No need for heat. I've hammered out a few that were worse.

Looks like a lot of rust down around the mounting bead of the tire & rim. Might be a good time to bump the tire off the rim and sand blast & paint the whole rim. If that tractor has had CaCl fluid in the past I can guarantee theres lots of rust on the inside of the rim.

Nice looking M, You got 3 weight on the outside , and 1 on the inside, how did u tighten your wheel weights, with both ends in the square holes? Just curious

I've used a 12" crescent to work 'oopsies' like that out.Deflate, break the bead, push tire away...Ho heat heeded. No worries,be just fine the way it is.

I have fixed bent rims like that before, but not with the tire still on it. Take an 8lb. hammer (or bigger if you have one) and try hammering it back without taking anything apart. I bet you can get it bent back without too much trouble.

Everybody has a good ideal . But with age ya get lazy and look for a better way. Now IF you can borrow beg or have a Duck bill tire hammer and a 8-10 sledge and some other dummy brave enough to hold or swing the other hammer a couple wacks and it will be good as new with the addition of some touch up paint and ya never have to break down the tire or even let the air out .

Nice tractor. Dent gives her a little character. I have nothing to add with regards to straighten it as ideas already have been posted by others.

normally I wouldn't suggest such a thing - but where it's winter... I'd say take your time with the wheels. Take both wheels off - remove the tires - bang out that fold - sandblast the rims and repaint.

Looks like they only got painted on the outside in a restoration, and you've got some rust creeping in around the edges. Now would be a great time to make them look like new, and extend their life.

If not - just bang out that dent - but I'd deflate the tire - too dangerous swinging heavy things around a full tire like that.

That's some thick metal, and it can be a )#($# to unbend them, but just keep at it. Wear your earplugs.

DO NOT HEAT IT WITH THE TIRE IN PLACE - in case that's not obvious!

I might be tempted to take an old air hammer, chisel bit and round the edge so you don't cut the metal...You'd have a tool about 3/4" wide and let it rattle, might work, might not.

A big whammer and some silver paint and it'll be good as new. Been there done that. Merry Christmas...........Kenny
