I need a computer expert

I found username and password written down in the desk drawer, put in password and it says incorrect. Need to get a usb plugin to try mulemeats link.
First, make sure you didn't have caps lock on when you created the password by trying it both ways now. If that is unsuccessful,
Click "lost password" and try to answer the questions to create a new password. I hope you recall the correct answers. All your files and pictures should remain on Onedrive, even if you wipe your HDD and reinstall W10 from: Windows 10 download.

My desktop has Windows 10 and it's not supported anymore. Last week it shutdown for some reason and I restarted it but it was super slow. I use Brave for a browser and tried to get into saved passwords but it said I needed the Microsoft password to get into them. I've never had a Microsoft password since it was new 8 or 10 years ago. Now when starting it up it shows a background that I haven't seen before, when I click the mouse my name comes up in a circle with a box to put a password in that I have no idea what it is. Now what do I do? Am I just screwed? It has farm records and pictures that I don't want to loose. I checked with a local computer repair shop and he said without a password he can't get into it to try anything. Time to use this one for target practise and get another one and loose everything? I'm using a tablet right now that I really don't like but it's better than trying to use my phone. Any ideas? Thanks, Chris
Try and contact microsoft and see if you ever had an account (ten years is a long time...maybe you forgot) and if so you may be able to get them to let you change your sign in info..idk, just throwing that out there.

It is on by default, he would've had to turn it off manually after initial start-up with W10, before connecting to the internet..
So Willie G. and company have been poking through your private info for sometime now. I know we have the Onedrive on work computers (privately held oil refinery) but I thought it was their choice for backup redundancy.

I guess there is no need to be ambiguous other than avoiding political incorrectness, I mean Bill Gates and “company”
Figured as much. But I see a few references to motorcycles as well as old tractors on this site. I tell people the 1937 John Deere B my wife and I got earlier this year is like a vintage Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Mystery ritual to start it (I haven't totally figured it out) and sometimes you start it just to hear it run! Sorry to Hijack this thread.

You want to get your computer booted up in safe mode / step 1
Once you have it booted up in safe mode you want to choose to restart your computer from a date prior to when this problem occured.

It's like a fresh restart of your system prior to when you got locked out.

To get your computer in safe mode follow these instructions...

Shut your computer completly down then restart while pressing the "F8" key repeatedly during startup.

Once you are in Safe Mode look for a 'Restore' option.
Pick a date to restore your computer prior to when you got locked out.
After clicking on Restore see if you have a Restore date their to select 'prior' to having your lockout problem.
If so select to Restore at that date and your computer should boot up after a long Restore process.
NOTHING should get lost doing it this way.

Let us know how you make out.

BTW, once you have access, click on updates in the settings, on the right will be an option to extend W10 security updates for 1 year, IF your computer will not support switching to W11. The W10 part that is no longer supported are "feature" updates. When that 1 yr extension expires, then you no longer get safety and security updates.
Then it's time for us to either buy a new computer with W11, or switch the OS to Linux. This is assuming you are seeing the message that your computer will not support W11.

let us know if you were able to get back in your computer using the "Restore" feature they come with..

Take care and good luck :-)

I got a flash drive and plugged it in, says it needs a password recovery disc which I don't have. I'll call different places Monday.

Thanks for the reply's and attempts to help, Everything I tried failed, was able to get it into a repair shop this morning and he called me this afternoon. He got into Windows and set it up for no password entry. He said the main parts are from 2013 and need upgraded to work for Windows 11. He has a refurbished unit for $450 with Windows 11 in it which is cheaper than upgrading my old one, so I think that is the way to go. He said he could transfer everything from my old one to the newer one so I don't loose anything. Thanks again, Chris
