I need direction

I have a 1948 Ford 8N ,I have a petronix ELI installed, front mount distributor. 12 volt coil measuring 2.3 ohms. I am following JMOR diagram I was provided but wanted to check if I need the OEM ballast resistor with ELI and 12 volt coil
Yes just the original brown resistor with the terminal on the botom. ELI says online to remove it. Thank you

Unless you want to replace the coil, keep it.

The coil will melt w/ a constant current greater than 4 amps. 14.5 volts/2.3 ohms gets you 6.3 amps.
