I really am puzzled

1941 9N with fornt Distributor. I have my tractor that I had put a new OEM cast iron carb on since the old one was damaged by PO. New carb installed I tried all the advice I had read on this sight.
Proper Flow, Main Jet turned out 2 turns, fuel/air was adjusted accordingly out about 2-2 1/2 turns out. Got it to start and idles ok. Really did not see an increase in the idle speed but adjusted the throttle to about 500 rpms.
Now when I moved the tractor in gear it sounds like it missing. Fuel flow meets the 2 pints/minute rule.
I removed the points and checked the gap. The most I could get was .009 open, plus they had divot on one side and a peak on the other. Filed them the best I could until I get a new set and reinstalled.
Still had the same problem with the missing/no power so I adjusted the carb some more and the only thing that worked (not 100%) was to completely remove the power jet (3" needle) from the carb. Even if I placed my finger over the hole after the needle was out it would stall.
I know this does not make alot of sense so I thought I would ask the experts here for more helpful advice.
Could the jets in the carb be too small and requires the needle out?
Does this have anything to do with the points gap?

one problem at a time.. .009 is not the proper points gap.

fix that THEN diagnose any fuel problems you are having.. IF any.. weak spark makes for hard starting and low power running..

I've got the same(41-9n)Tractor and had similar problems,but learned that quality parts make a big difference.go to napa or ford dealer,or site of choice&get good points.blue streak or napa brand.I was lucky(I guess)to find a set of Ch h-10's and they have been working about 3 years now with no problems,though most people use autolite.On the air mix screw,I statred at 3/4 turn and adjusted for max. revs while working idle(close to motor)screw until it was about 1/2 turn out---lha
