This morning my next door (almost) neighbor and I went to one of our local scrapyards. We were sitting in his truck and I noticed a semi with 3 balers on it, an International, a John Deere, and a Case. None of them looked to be in bad shape although the Case was missing a wheel. The crane operator took his claw and picked them up one by one, swung around and dropped each one on the pile. What a shame.

I feel your pain,

i just stop going to our local scrap dealer,

just watching people bring it that old usable equipmet and just scrap it, its almost to much to watch.

looks like people would first place it on craigslist and try to sell it.

This is interesting because I was thinking something similar today about the large amount of old US iron being scrapped.

This is my thoughts on the subject.

The scrapping of farm equipment is at the stage of being outrageous!

I know people have barns full of what they think is outdated machinery but the truth is we are going to need that machinery in a couple of years after everything goes to caput

The part that really burns my behind is the fact that a large percentage of that scrap steel is going to China to build ships, tanks and planes that some day will be used against US.

The Japanese used US scrap steel to build its WWII navy and we paid the price for our open trade stupidity at Pearl Harbor!

One EMT pulse over Kansas City Missouri and I wonder how many of those integrated circuits in the newer machinery will be operating.

The USA will be kicked backed to 1960-70 agriculture over-night (if were that lucky) and were scrapping the very machinery we need to grow our food.

I agree with you brokengun. We will regret it. 10 years ago I watched a 1665 Combine w/ a 306 Corn Head attached get torn apart by a huge CAT excavator.

Most people think they are going to get rich selling their old iron. Most of them probably don't even know where it is being shipped to, all they see is $$$$$$$$$$$.

John, that's what the operator used t unload the balers, a big Cat excavator with a pronged claw.

Not far from me. there was a guy that had a pasture full of tractors. he died and the family decided to sell all the tractors for iron rather than have a sale. They hauled off several model L's and LA's plus a DI to the iron man.

I also know someone that sold an unstyled JD G and B for iron. I tried twice over the years to buy the G.
