Can anybody identify this? They claim 1974 355D.
I can't find any specs. Is it an oddball?
Trans is stuck in 4th.

Try 3550 rather than 355D, might do better. I don't know the precise differences between 3500 and 3550, but that certainly looks in the 3500 family from the loader frame. Someone else will have better info.

I agree. There never was a 355D, but if there were, it would be a 1990's machine. I was sceptical about it being a 3550 with the rear lug bolt circle of a planetary axle. But I looked up the rear axle parts of a 3550 and it does have that style rear end.

Maybe Tony Jacobs will drop in on this thread but I am sure that he once told me that a 3550 is a 3500 with a 4000 rear end. The 4000 rear end has the wet brakes inside the axle "trumpets" whereas the 3000 rear end has dry drum brakes.

It does have wet brakes. I'm pretty sure its a 3550. Is the stuck trans in 4th a possible disaster? Hi/Low still shifts.

What tranny is it that's stuck in 4th? Must not be the 6/4 if it's stuck in 4th and high/low still shifts, given that 4th is also first on that tranny.

pop the top off and take a look see. if the top cover and shifters are worn out it will jump the lever outta the shift rail and leave in gear. quite common. complete top cover with shifters are not that bad new. but I too agree that it is a 3550
