ID my tractor.

Last week I purchased what I was told was an 8N tractor. But after doing some research I think it might be a 2N. I would like some help in IDing it for my own knowledge. Here are some facts I have gathered, I also have pictures if that will help.

Serial number on left side of engine block 288590.I have cleared the paint away for an inch on both ends of the serial number. I don't see any stars or 9N,2N,8N.

Tag on right side of bucket arm.
Dearborn
Model 19-8 Serial W 6298

Distributer is on front of engine.
3 bladed fan.

3 Speed, 1 reverse.

Front tires have 5 lug nuts. With a big nut in center of tire.
Rear tires have 6 lug nuts. With a center plate with 8 rivets.

you may have a 1950 ford 2n tractor. ford switched the distributor from the front mount to the side mount in late 50. if you have can post a picture of the the serial number i may be able to identify it better for you.

Talk about an odd ball!!!!

3 speed 1 reverse says 9N, 2N.

Never heard of a 3 blade fan.

Either 4 or 6.

The last 2N, the the follower to the 9N was made in 1947.

1947 Serial number 9N258540 - 9N306221

The serial number should start with 9N on a 2N.

Dan.......congratulations, you have the "braggin' rights" to a 1947 3-speed 2N, front mount engine s/n: 288590. 2N/s & 9N's have wide-hub 5-bolt front wheels and 6-lug rear wheels. While yer 2N came from the factory painted all grey with 6-volt positive ground, the only sure thing is the 3-speed tranny and 6-lug rear wheels. Its eazy to change front wheel hubs and all flathead engines are interchangeable. I say its yer tractor, paint it enny color you like. ......Dell, yer 20/20 painter (looks good at 20ft or 20mph)

Thanks Dell for that info.Now I own something that's older than me by a lot. I think I will stick with the gray & red.
