Should be horizontal barred grille. It has obviously been modified.

Mike,

For your information the TE-20 was made long after the 48000 serial number. I am not sure where that limit came from, but is it quoated in a number of places.

I personally have seen TE's in the 52,000 range and had owners thourghly check a handful in the 85,000 to 98,000 rand and confirm they were TE's.

another of thoes Ferguson mysteries.

Jeff, as you say the figure of 48,000 is bandied about in a lot of literature as being the last TE20 but again, as you say, they made a lot after that serial number mainly for the USA as it was a Continental engine which was liked and it was home grown, so to speak. I am interested in the range of the serial numbers though that you have had dealings with, I have never seen anything that says they went as high as 98,000 so that is very interesting. I will make some inquiries over here to see if I can find out just what they did go up to. I think that the figure of 48,000 comes about from the fact that after that number they didn't make them for the UK market or anywhere else apart from export to the USA, but that is a guess but it does seem logical, I will have to try to find that out and let you know....John
