Identify a part?

Good morning all, I have split my 8N and have had a New ring gear put on my Flywheel and had the flywheel resurfaceed. I am going to put it all back together the weekend after thanksgiving. But I have a question. On the left side of the engine, right in front of the starter there is a small water line that goes into the engine block. The line is bad and I want to replace it while I have everything apart. What is this called? I was looking in the 8N parts section and didn't see anything resembling this line. I am also replacing my clutch, the Radiator lines, PTO seal, Oil Pan seal Distributor cap and condenser, and am adding a bracket to te side of the Hood so I can secure my top mount Exhaust, Basically everything that I can see leaking or that needs attention. I figured the best time to do it is when it is all apart. If I need to make a new line, I can do that, but if there is one already available I have time to order it before next weekend. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right in front of the starter is where the drain petcock normally
is to drain the block. Is it possible someone in the past put a
block heater on it and ran one of the hoses to that spot?

Thanks Royse,
I will need to check where the line goes to. I just assumed it was for the temperature guage. But you are correct, when I take it out it drains the entire system pretty quick.

That tractor did not come with a temperature gauge so if there is one there now it was added by someone in the past, so it very well could go to the temp. gauge. If that is the case you will need to decide whether to get rid of it and put in a petcock like the original or correct what ever is there, if it was me I would get rid of it and put in a petcock.

You are lucky that coolant pours out of there well. A lot of times they plugged up by gunk and won't drain.

i almost put a temperature sender there myself. in my case, it's a wire, not a hose. but folks here say that spot is a poor place for a sender, as the temp of the water there is not indicative of the temp in the rest of the system.

your 8N should have a flat spot on the left side of the head, near the front left corner. that's the ideal spot for a sender, it can be drilled and tapped for one. in lieu of that, the next best place is to get an upper hose adapter for it and put the sender there. that's where mine is. just be sure to get the proper size adapter. iirc, these use a 51mm size.

and just put a petcock in that hole in the block, as the others have said.
