Identify this tool

Who knows this one. I made it for the Mesa county wool
growers auction yesterday. It brought in 375 dollars.

First time here so please bare with me. OK?

Don't know alot about sheep but I would guess it to be a tool used to grab a sheep by the back leg. Similar to the old fashion tool used to catch chickens.

Just guessin here.

Nicely made, Tom, but...$375? Was it a charity auction, or was it bidding fever? After deducting for the materials, that comes out to about $175 an hour for your time, doesn't it? Unless you have an industrial sized lathe and turned the handle yourself from some strong hardwood 2X2.

Ah that explains the light one we have in a shed. Its just doubled
