I listed under a ford 5000 but now I am thinking it is not a 5000 model.

One way to (maybe) figure it out... Assuming it's a '65 or newer (your numbers suggest it is)... How many cylinders? 2000, 3000, and 4000's have 3 cylinders, 5000's have 4, 6000's have 6, 7000's have 4 and a turbo... (some 5000's have had a turbo added, usually an M&W)

I read it as:
1974 Ford 5000 built May 23 -B shift
Agricultural all purpose Diesel, Ind. PTO 540-1000 with an 8 speed.

I was thrown off because of the F in the model
number.

What is a B-shift? I will take a look for this. I
know it is an 8spd.

As in my original post, I stated that this was not a 5000 based upon your model number and that you should post all of your information.

As you listed different serial numbers that would not change the year of this unit..

Based upon your information this shows to be a 1974, Ford Agriculture Tractor, Model 7000, with a Diesel engine, Independent 540/1000 pto, and a 8Fx2R manual transmission.

Usually, A shift is 7:00 AM til 3:00 PM, B shift is 3:00 PM til 11:00PM, and C shift is 11:00 PM til 7:00 AM. There may have been a turn over overlap and hours can vary a bit but that has been my experience. Of course, where I now work it is 12 hour rotating shifts so A and B shift work opposite 12s and C and D shift work opposite 12s so your mileage may vary.
