Ignition switch troubleshooting

Got my tractor running this morning to plow snow. After stopping to refuel I went to restart it and the ignition switch won't push in anymore; feels like there's a spring forcing it back out again. Any idea what might be happening and how I can fix it?

Which tractor do you have? Push button switch or all in one switch?

All the switch does is to apply power to the starter solenoid. Put your tractor in neutral and jump the soleniod to start.
