Ignition troubleshooting (hopefully)

850 has always run well and had way more power than it could effectively use. Couldnt get it started the other day after a long spell outside in the weather. Last night i opened up the distributor and found it pretty wet. Dried out with a heat gun and was able to start it and ran it for a bit to charge the battery and get the engine warm. Today, after a foot of wet snow, tried to plow and found that it was dying under any load, even just starting to move through the snow with the plow up.

Over the last 24 hours, in anticipation of this storm, I've been troubleishooting in panic mode, just throwing sh!t at it. At this point i am on aftermarket cap and leads because i wasnt confident in the connection i was getting at the distributor after pulling stuff apart.

I'm hoping this is just an ignition system issue, and looking for pointers on how to approach the troubleshooting now that i am no longer in emergency mode and can actually figure out what is going on instead of flailing.
