Ignition voltage

I installed a 12 volt coil, square type front mount distributer, and it runs alot better but flutters. Store was out of points so I couldn't do it today. My factory resistor ohm'd at .4 ohms. The coil was Tisco brand, and it ohm'd 2.4. With everything hooked up, I ohmed the feed side of the resistor, to the coil spring, and had 2.8 ohms. Is this an ok reading. I think my resistor was supposed to be 1 ohm, but not sure.
Thanks again for the great advice.

actory resistor #12250 is temperature dependent & 0.4 ohms would be a normal cold reading. When hot enough to burn your hand & scorch paper if touched to wire wound resistor element, it will measure about 1.7 ohms.

Thanks alot. Will pick up a good set points and finish my tune up and be ready for mowing. Hopefully the flutter will go away afterwards. I really appreciate all the help you guys provide on this site.
