IH 1586

My IH 1586 diesel will not start again if turned off after running. It all but turnover but just doesn"t get the job done. Let it sit awhile and there"s no problem. Any ideas.

If slow to start or no start when hot hydraulic head assembly in injection pump may be worn out, fuel leaks internally instead of going to injectors as it should. Tractor has American Bosch model 100 pump, ALWAYS set throttle at least 1/3 to make sure excess fuel oil cylinder is collapsed on both cold or hot starts. This applies to ALL Model 100 injection pumps, excess fuel feature DOES NOT work at low idle position.
Hope this helps, if not head will need replaced. Have not bought one for awhile, last one I repaired was for fuel leaks.
