IH 185 planter

Bought a 1 pt hitch 185 planter at an auction this week. Never saw one before the auction. Don't ask me why but I wanted it. Its in good shape over all. Its been sitting outside for a lot years and there is surface rust on the wheel and inside the chamber with the drive chain. It can all be cleaned up and painted. Only problem I have is the drive chain is rusted tight and broken in several pieces. I think I will get a manual and find out what the chain is - I suspect I can one find one once I know what to look for. It is a real small roller chain, reminds me of a smaller bicycle chain. I'll have to find something to plant with it next year - maybe a full row or two of sunflowers for the birds.

The 185 was the same concept as the Deere 70/71 unit planters in that the entire thing is self-contained and is driven by the press wheel. All IH planters took the same style of plate so you should be able to set it up for planting about anything.

It’s a common chain, I can’t remember off the top of my head, but as you say a smaller size.
