IH 350 High Utility

I recently bought I IH 350 High Utility. The serial number is #8233, which if I looked correctly would make it a 1957 model, but I have seen on the internet that they only made them one year, 1958, how can that be? This site says they were made three years, what gives? This particular tractor is a 4 cylinder gas with torq amplifier that works, 13.6 X 38 rears, quick hitch three point set up, pto and quick hitch 3 bottom plow. No power steering. Did I read correct that there were only 1000 of these made? So whats that put the value at, it runs good, smokes a bit when first started, the tin work is not so good either are the chrome emblems on the side.

Okay maybe it will work this time, It came with a three bottom IH fast hitch plow and 3 pt set up

thanks for the pic's
it looks about 5 inches higher than a normal utility on the front.
is the hieght difference on the rear just bigger tires?

Dave, According to the original IHC documentation residing in the Wisconsin Historical Society the Product Identification Committee Decision No. 131 dated March 28, 1957 which released the International 350 Hi-Clear tractor into production it states the following for the conversion of the 350 Utility to the new model: "The modification consists of providing the required ground clearance through incorporation of the Farmall 350 rear axle, wheel and tire equipment, and the provision of a front axle on which the vertical extensions are increased by 5 inches. The proposed design also involves the provision of a modified steering knuckle assembly". I believe the Farmall 350 most likely had 38" tires so this tractor is basically the front part from an original 350 Utility and the rear part from a Farmall 350 with the front raised 5" by a modified front axle.
Supplement No. 1 to this decision memo dated Sept. 17, 1957 changed the name of this new tractor to International 350 Hi-Utility Tractor and indicated that this name change was to eliminate any confusion with the regular high-clearance tractors as used in cane-field operations. It further indicated that their Sales department forecast an annual demand for 800 to 1000 of this type tractor if sold on a national basis instead of being restricted to shade tobacco areas.
Hope this is what you are seeking, Hal.
