I’ve got a shaver post driver on my IH 444, I know the return goes straight to the tank but where would I put the pressure line?
Is it my imagination or did someone remove the high pressure filter and use the hole to put in a high pressure port from plumbing stock?
That's the low pressure filter. Where the elbow/nipple is there should be a bolt that uses a 1 in wrench. The backside is bored out to accept the small high pressure filter. The parts file at Messics will show it. It's just a super fine screen mesh tube.View attachment 106773

I’m not sure if you have to use the 3 point with it, maybe just to set the height. Yeah I would like to know how to use the one under the seat. Would I be able to plumb it into the manifold from the pump?My first question is, do you require the use of the 3PT while using the post driver? If you just require the 3PT to lift the post driver when you move to the next post position then you can use the setup in the photo below BUT you have to understand how to operate the remote outlet using the Isolator valve at front right of seat (circled in blue in photo) and setting the 3PT Raise/Lower Lever, I can provided that procedure. Becareful as you have to understand the proper procedure or you could damage the hydraulic pump or hoses.
The low pressure return will be to the hydraulic fill Plug behind the seat on top of the hydraulic reservoir.
BUT if you require 3PT lift/lower during driving a post then you must use the more complicate method of connecting a remote cylinder.
Note the hydraulic vale on the post driver must be an Open Center valve.

Thanks! That’s what I’ll probably try to use.Your tractor doesn't have any hydraulic remotes, which is where you would normally get hydraulic pressure for the post pounder.
I think that knob is a diverter valve that lets you switch between remotes and 3pt, and the rusty plugged elbow sticking out is where your remotes would get pressurized oil, if you had any.
Someone will have to confirm this, but you might be able to connect the post pounder there. You will have to constantly spin that valve in and out to switch between the 3pt to move the post pounder, and the pressure to run the post pounder.
No, you have to plumb it as shown in the above picture. I am working on getting my tax info ready for the accountant, should be finished by Saturday.
I believe mine has no relief valve from what I’ve researched.Still working on Tax.
We have to determine if the hydraulic valve mounted on the post drive has a relief valve or not.
If no relief valve it would be dangerous to connect that valve inline with the hydraulic pump and the only solution would be to use the Remote Hydraulic port on the front of the seat controlled by the Isolator valve and the 3PT Raise/Lower lever.

The black hose would be connected to elbow in front of seat, the orange hose would be connected to hydraulic fill plug behind the seat on top of the hydraulic reservoir.
Procedure to use the Isolator Valve and 3PT Raise/Lower lever to produce continuous hydraulic oil flow through the hydraulic valve on the post driver so the post driver hydraulic cylinder can be controlled by the hydraulic valve on the machine.
1) To understand the hydraulic flow within the 444 see the diagram below, Flow Divider(Fast-Slow Knob) valve at left front of seat, you want that in the FAST (out) position, inbuilt Relief Valve 2200-2400 PSI, Isolator Valve determines if the high pressure oil goes to the 3PT lift cylinder or out the port in the front of the seat (Elbow on your 444).

2) Use of the Isolator Valve and the 3PT Raise/Lower lever to send high pressure oil to the remote valve on the post driver, see 3PT lever photo below.
a) Rules, Draft Control Lever all the way Forward, always shut engine off when Opening or Closing the Isolator valve.
b) For the operations of your post driver, after the post driver is setup to drive the post with the 3PT hitch at the proper height and the post driver remote valve in the Neutral position, then shut off the engine, move the Stop Knob on the 3PT Raise/Lower slot to touch the 3PT Raise/Lower lever, this will be the HOLD position and no oil will flow to the Remote valve, now Close the Isolator Valve and start the engine and listen for hydraulic squealing noises and engine under load then shut off engine and investigate otherwise move the 3PT Raise/Lower lever about 1 inch rearward into the Lift position and this should start a continuous flow of high pressure oil to the remote valve on the post driver and back into the hydraulic reservoir. Now the remote valve on the post driver should control the cylinder on the post driver. I noticed that the remote valve on the post driver is to a single action cylinder(only one hydraulic line), so it only applies down pressure on the post and then to return the cylinder rod back to home position, you have to lock the remote valve in non push position and then use the rope winch to pull the mechanism up to the home position?
c) To move to the next post position, move 3PT lever to the Hold position, shut off the engine, OPEN the Isolator valve and start engine and use 3PT lift as normal.
