Ih 504 Hydraulics

Took the tractor out to plow some snow this morning. Steering seemed a little stiff. Pushed some snow and I have no lift or tilt on the bucket and no power steering !!!!! The temp is 15F When I go to raise the bucket I hear a little whine noise, but no lifting. Anyone have any thoughts, hyd fluid level is good.

Ice in filter and screen,get a new hyraulic filter and clean screen on same when out.Scott

When it warms to near freezing if you could
give the tractor and hydraulics a good
workout to the point you cannot hold your
hand on a hose. Problem being genuine
hytran wants to absorb moistute and retain
it so it will not gas off easy when heated.

Yes.. that was a problem with mine, I was replacing the filter yearly and changed hydraulic fluid every other year, for some reason the 504 would get moisture I finally just took the filter out in fall and back in for spring.

I pulled the filter and it was full of ice . What a surprise
How did you do with no filter in the winter, would the ice still form in the pump or would it separate from the oil and remain in a frozen block until the oil heated up.
