IH 504 utility

i want to replace the worn out clutch pedal bushing on my IH 504 utility , it looks like all i have to do is disconnect the left and right side pedal clamps, and disconnect the brakes , will the shaft slide right out or is it gonna be hung up inside the trans case ? thanks

Roger have you actually done this job on this model? I will confess I have not. But looking at a photo of the tractor and the parts diagram I would say you are misleading the OP. The shaft in that tractor appears to be way back near the brakes, not up by the clutch, totally by observation. Also the parts diagram agrees with that. To the OP it appears by looking at the parts diagram for the brakes the actuator for the left brake can be loosened and slid off then after removing the key the clutch pedal should slide off. Also the clutch pedal is not shown as having a bushing so that may require you to take it to a machine shop if you do not have the capability for that. If you do take the shaft out drain the fluid out of the housing first!

yea , i was gonna post back and thats wrong whats he's saying ,also the brake pedal shaft looks to be a few inches above the fill plug for the fluid , so i dont think i have to drain the fluid a little , also your probably right , the pedal has no bushing , i'll need the shaft and pedal brought to my friend who is a machinist , hell put a bushing in, but getting back to my question , can i take the ends off and slide the shaft out without anything inside falling off or is it just a straight through shaft ?

Yes, nothing connects inside. If you take the link I send
for the parts diagram and go to the ..search.. at the top
and select ..Model.. for the search type and enter 504
then select your tractor ..it is the International not
Farmall since you have a utility.. in the list you can
navigate to all the parts sections for your tractor. Here
is a link to the brake section showing the shaft.
Selecting and part for the process of puttying it in your
cart is out of whack right now if you use an iPhone.

i have a parts book at home , i see how it goes together , but i was just wondering if it was by chance connected to anything inside , thats why i asked if anyone has taken it out , thanks for the info ,

I'm just curious where you are located. I am trying to track down a 504 Utility that was my father's fav tractor. It was in Iowa in the mid
'80s.

i took off and pulled the brakes all apart , the woodruff keys were a bear to get out , the shaft does slide right out , with one wheel taken off, the shaft was to worn in my opinion, so im buying a new shaft and then sending the clutch pedal and new shaft over to my friend who will put a bushing in,

i got a new brake pedal shaft, had my friend put a bushing in the clutch pedal , ready to reassemble everything
