IH 504

Does anyone have a pic of the stabilizer brackets for an IH 504 Hi-Clear? The 2 sway chains in the middle aren't enough for a 7 ft 907 mower

The side to side control may be dependent on the width of the mower's 3pt lower pins. There is a standard variability within a range to comply. If
narrow, the hitch could sway. I would consider using turn buckles in the place of the chains. be careful to assure they do not bind as the hitch is
raised or lowered. also use a lock nut on the turn buckles to prevent loosening (use the right hand thread side for the nut, as it is easier to find
than a LH nut). Jim

Yeah you are right about finding the sweet spot on chain length so it doesn't bind or be too loose. I have seen the brackets that are an angle iron design as well with a hole for a hitch pin...like a ford or ferguson axle bracket.

So these brackets bolt on the the wing type fender bolts? I would love to see a pic

A google search will find a image of the rear of a 504, which might be usable. Good luck, All I could find in a few minutes was CaseiH parts diagrams.

I have a 1967 IH 504 International (the utility model 504) that my father bought new. It has a set of hitch stabilizers on it. They were added to the tractor some years after he bought it. We got them from the IH dealer but they are not original IH , but rather some type of aftermarket manufacture. They consist of a right and left axle mounted bracket and the stabilizer bar which is a flat steel bar the length needed to reach from axle bracket to the implement lower hitch pin. Brackets such as these would not be difficult to fabricate with drawings/pictures and measurements.

First picture below shows the right side bar installed on the axle bracket and in place alongside the right side hitch arm. 2nd and 3rd pics are the right side axle bracket, 4th and 5th are left side axle bracket. 6th and 7th are images from parts book. Pic 6 is left and pic 7 is right. Due to space limitations I will make a second post showing pages from Operator manual showing sway limiter and stabilizer instructions.

It is all about what you experience....Welden-I saw in your pic that the loader bracket plate had only 1 bolt on the bottom and I was going to tell you your bracket was upside down. I also couldn't use the 3 bolt holes under the axle for the stabilizer bracket I am making because the 2 bolts on mine cover them up. I googled it and found the PO put the bracket on upside down. Supposed to have the 2 bolts on the top of the axle...It is all about what you experience.

I also see that the metal strap on mine where the sway chains connect has one side broken and the chain is attached to the drawbar lock plate. I can't find anyone selling just the strap...would have to buy the whole lock plate. So I guess I will fab that up too.

I bought a set of stablizer bars that are adjustable like the top link. I put on 2 brackets under the fenders with hitch pins. I made sure the pins were even with the lift arm pivot nuts.

They don't work because I set them for the down position and they are too short for the up position. I don't know what to do next.
