IH 584 air filter..

I’m trying to find the correct inner and outer air filters for my IH 584 diesel. I ordered two that cross reference the parts book I have. The problem I’m having is that the new inner air filter will not fit in the new outer filter. The inside of the new outer filter is smaller than the old one.( The second picture is of the inside new outer filter.)Any recommendations or suggestions?

When I needed air filters for my 584 I went to O'Reilly's and took the old one in and they where able to me 1 in less then 24 hours

Two options...
1. Blow your old outer filter out with compressed air, and put your new inner filter in the old outer one and run it.

2. Return your new outer filter to where you bought it, and buy the correct one.

According to Baldwin filter the PA 2700 is supposed to fit inside the PA 2391 The best alternative I can give you if you don't want to take them in some place to match them up .OR as said put the new inside on in and blow out the outside one and run it. then get the right new outer one.

Looks like as many as 3 or 4 different air cleaners were used. Why not go to the official CIH parts Site linked below, armed with your serial number, and See if any numbers different than you have come up.

I didn’t think about that, I’ll take mine there tomorrow and see if they can get me one.
