Ih 6200 drill sprocket location

Recently bought a set of 14' 6200s, and after getting them home I was reading the charts on the grass box (going to use one for alfalfa seeding) and saw it mentions using a 14 tooth drive sprocket instead of 7.

Which sprocket is it talking about? I haven't been able to find any info about it. I'm new to this whole seeding thing, only done haying before.

The 7 tooth sprocket on the driving shaft would have been added at some point to slow the driven shaft (14T sprocket) down. Should be a 14T to 14T give you the right seeding rate as per the chart.

On a 5100, the 14 tooth sprocket was used with the 7 tooth sprocket as a Soybean Special sprocket. There was a chart available for this configuration, in which the quantities sown were reduced 50% for a given indicator setting.

I only mention this because because the 5100 and 6200 were built concurrently and likely have the same feeding system. Their major differences were in the sowing method, end wheel drill vs press wheel drill.

If it has two 14’s on it now, it is in the low range configuration and is feeding HALF of what is shown on the charts, including the grass box.

Is the 14 or 7t sprocket on the shaft the press wheels are on? Or is it on the shaft under the boxes with 2 sprockets right next to each other, mine appear to be 2 14t sprockets right next to each other. On the seed charts it seems to suggest that the quantities are doubled when the "special 14t sprocket is used" unless it means that I need to double the quantities if the 14t is used?? I will post another reply with photos of the sprockets. Do they come factory with a 7t or a 14t?

Also does anyone know where to find the chains for the fertilizer feeders? The shaft is seized so the previous owner cut the drive chains..

Sprocket 4 and 5 I have are both 14t. Why does it show 2 different 7 tooth sprockets for "5" and why would one be slow, the other regular? Is the bottom one (grain drive 7 tooth slow speed) actually on a different shaft?

Does your power train resemble anything in this picture ( 5100 end wheel).View attachment 79968
Here's some pics of mine

My fertilizer drive is run off those 2 gears, it seems those 2 sprockets right next to each other are the ones I'm wondering about. The one on the left is the "special 14 tooth" I believe. Which would tell me I need to double the quantities, so if the chart says it'll be seeding at 10lbs/ac it'll actually be 20lbs/ac

It looks like you have the fast sprocket installed. I have attached three pictures. One shows the two 14 tooth sprockets next to each other just like yours. This is set up with the fast (14 teeth) sprocket for seeding small grains. I occasionally replace it with the regular rate (7 teeth) sprocket, which is shown in another picture. I use that for cover crops and low rates of small grains.

When you say the fast sprocket on your drill is on the left, it is the one on the left in your photo (or nearest the frame member). That's actually to the right side of the machine as it is operating in the field.

Regarding your fertilizer drive- I believe it takes a 2050 chain. I took a picture of what I believe is my fertilizer drive chain. The length may be incorrect, but hopefully that's close.

I hope this clears things up a bit.
