IH 656 U Gas gear drive

So I have an IH 656U Gas motor, gear drive. It is a great tractor but unfortunately needs a radiator, A new core is about $900 plus the service of installing it on the tamks, so my question is can anyone legitimately tell me if a radiator from a Farmall 656 Gas gear drive fit? different part numbers but look very similar except the filler neck is much taller on the Farmall radiator, I asked the same question on a facebook forum and got nothing but a bunch of BS answers that meant nothing
Thanks in advance

things like this you need to pretty well do your own homework. everybody gives answers all over the map and things then get way off topic i have noticed. what is this gear drive your talking about? i do know the rads from a 560 international will exchange with the farmalls. and if its just the filler neck is taller that wont matter anyhow. mounting should be the same ,inlets and outlets should be the same also. i would say they will fit just from my experiences but not put my stamp on it.

All I can tell you is there are different part numbers for the 656 utility and the Farmall. This site lists a complete radiator for the utility at $590 it is the first one on the list in the link, PN 396496R2. The other radiator listed is the more common Farmall radiator for $90 less. I am sure it is a foreign built and there is always a question of how well they fit. All I can say is I have heard far more praises for the parts sold on this site than I have heard bad.

For rustred, he is referring to a manual shift tranny vs. a hydro.

For Metalmender, I have the same tractor and was lucky enough to find a good used rad at a nearby tractor yard, I still need to put it in though, (can't seam to find the time right now), but, I have seen several parts sites include dimensions in their descriptions of radiators, I think this site does also.

Ya I pretty much figured that , just did not know why he was specifying gear drive as that is how these tractors are driven. They still should use the same rad. But accurate info is good.
