IH 684 Water Temp Sender

I've just changed the water temperature sender on my 684. Until now the gauge never worked, now it seems to work fine, except after a while of running, the gauge is right over in the 'Hot'. The tractor has never over heated even through the summer and even now, although the gauge is right up in the hot, it never boils over or gives any indication of over heating. There are 2 options for the sender (3073787r1, 3127956R1) which is the one I was told was for the 684 or (A187687). Have I got the right one? does anyone know what the difference is? do they have different RTD"s? or is it likely that the gauge is reading correct? Any advice greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Hi Stuart, I looked at caseih.com parts and there was a note about temp gauge and sensors:
GAUGE ASSY, water temp, ac delco, use only w/ac delco sending unit 3073787R91 OR 3127959R4 is a replacement part for the obsolete part(s) 3127959R1

I googled 3127959R4:
http://www.link_disallowed/Temperature_Gauge_New_Case_IH_International_Da_p/113474.htm

It says: Includes Icknield Sender Switch (3127956R1)

So you may not have the sender unit that matches the manufacture of the gauge.

We had same problem when transmission lube pressure switch went on my brother's 684, the CaseIH replacement switch indicated low pressure all the time. Swapped the one with 454 and 684 OK and 454 was indicating low pressure. My brother found a replacement at auto parts store with correct pressure setting.

Thanks notjustair, I'll check the gauge & and maybe price one up that is compatible with the sender I bought.
