There won't be a literal year stamped on the serial number plate. You have to look it up by serial number.

So you can look up the year next time yourself, this is how it works: There are serial number charts online. This site has serial number charts in the "Research" section at the top of the page. You can also find them with google. Google's first result is usually tractordata.

In years past you had to *BUY* a *BOOK* (GASP!) to get serial number charts!!!!

With an IH tractor you have to get the correct "brand" as there were two, "Farmall" and "International." On the serial tag the F-706 indicates you have a FARMALL 706, so you would look up the year on the FARMALL 706 serial charts.

A serial number chart just lists the FIRST serial number produced for each year, not all of the serial numbers produced. So just because your exact serial number isn't shown does not mean you've got an impossible mystery on your hands.

Determining which year your tractor produced is the easy part: Simply go down the list until you find the first number HIGHER than your serial number. Go back 1 year on the list. That is the year of your tractor.

Since the first serial number for 706 in 1965 is 21162, and your serial number is 16112, your tractor is a 1964.
