IH 756 Starting problem

I recently acquired an IH 756 and have consistently had a problem with the tractor starting w/o being manually primed with gasoline/ether. What are potential causes for this problem and do i fix them?

(quoted from post at 14:35:09 03/01/21) Does it start in the cold better or is it
start harder in the cold

If it is turned off for a few minutes it will start back up but if it sits for more than 30 minutes, i have to prime it.

Not saying I have the answer, but I had a 706 diesel that was the hardest starting tractor I ever owned, gas or diesel. I didn't
think there was any excuse for any tractor to ever start that hard. I finally broke a sleeve and rattled a piston right in to the
block by using too much ether.

I bought a new 4040 Deere after that, and several years after I bought it, it started acting the same way. I changed the fuel pump
on it, the little lift pump where the primer is, and that fixed it. I've thought every since then that that was probably what was
wrong with the 706.

I agree with Randy, check your lift pump.

Had a Bobcat, acted exactly like that. It was the Lift pump.

Also, is there an intake heater or glow plugs? Do they work?
