IH C-20 Plow

HI,
I"ve got a IH C-20 plow. I"m working on it trying to get it in a little better shape. I greased it and found two grease zerts wouldn"t take grease. From the two point fast hitch prongs, they are the zerts near the top of the plow for the top rail which moves (gives) should you hit something solid. All the grease zerts seem to be threaded except for these two. They are quite rusty and I am soaking them for a bit with penetrating oil. These two zerts have a normal head for the grease gun, but the part in the plow has no shoulder for a wrench. Could they be a pressed in fitting? What"s a good way to remove them? They are in solid.
Thanks.

I would use some heat on the two zerks that won't take grease. If you can get them out you could use a #3 tap drill for 1/4-28 zerks and then tap new threads. Use some cutting oil. Hal

I wouldn't clean or grease them too much. Sometimes the old trip mechanisms will trip too much. The IH mowers are bad about this. Never grease the trip on them or nothing but trouble comes of it. The SC don't have enough power to damage the plow anyhow.

I appreciate the help. Never gave it any thought as to the tractor power and whether or not it really affected the trip. I used the plow in a creek bottom which we are restoring from wetlands to something a lot dryer, (it's working too) I plowed right into a buried tree and the plow didn't give, but the right rear wheel of the tractor went down into the soft ground enough that I was stuck. Thanks to you fellows for giving me some input on the matter.
Enjoy your week.
