What years did they use blue paint on Cub implements? I have a 49 and
Not sure what is era correct for my machine. My sickle bar mower was blue originally, but no idea if it’s original to my tractor…. Also want to paint a plow

This is a really old thread. The original poster hasn't even been on this site in over 2 years. Generally, you are better off to start a new thread with your new question rather than posting to one this old. A new thread will probably be seen by more people.

Back to your original question, blue was used a lot on Cub implements in '49. The mower was mostly blue. The pitman was probably ocher. There may have been a little red. The plow would have been blue except for the unpainted front face of the plow bottom. The rear rockshaft attachment is required for the plow but is not part of the plow. It was red.

What I use is much darken blue , copied from oem new fertilizer units at Sherman Williams. Also the ACE hardware has it in rattle can . Sherman Williams copied my formula so anytime I need more they just go to my file and then mix it.

I looked throug all the implement pictures for Farmall, and every implement showing fresh blue paint is a much lighter shade of blue than what is on my implements. Well, what used to be on "em.

Current pictures show almost a sky blue. THe 3-blade hippers" center mount post with curved bottom plate, and square plate, and curved frame, and axle housings show a few specs of blue, but it appears to be a darker blue. Almost a "navy" blue

What is the correct color ?
Well I am almost 80 and I recall the new implements my dad brought to the farm in 1954. The lighter blue was "Ford" blue and the darker blue more resembles IH implement blue. I have found International Harvester blue rattle cans at Ace Hardware that work well as well as Krylon at parts stores. Ace did have both IH Red and Blue in quarts and gallons.
