IH T-340 Crawler - Front Idler

Any chance somone may have a diagram or breakdown of the T-340 front idler? I think I have found oil seals that will fit it. It's the bushings and other internal parts I need to know about.

I have ordered the parts manual for it but it will take two weeks to get here. This is the from the right track, if that makes any difference.

The machine shop in town has my idler right now so they could repair it but they do not know what it is supposed to even look like because all the pieces are so badly worn or not even there anymore. If I can take them a diagram showing what pieces go where, that would really help and I'd like to get them working on it this week before my manual gets here!

Thanks for your help!

We finally found a Komatsu dealer that still has a book for this old crawler! I had understood that Liugang bought the Dresser/IH part from Komatsu back in 2012 so I didnt expect them to be able to find it.

I am posting the images that they sent us because I am certain others may have the same trouble as me somewhere down the line. :D

If everything is worn as you say on the front Idler, I don't think those expensive seals will fix it, on mine the Idlers both flopped side to side, the casting was wollered out where bushings went. I straightened holes up got the bushings from Motion Industries. (1 1/2") I. D. by 1 1/2" long. standard is 1/8" thick, i had to get some of them thicker to make up for hub wear. Then i drilled thrue hub next to spokes and thrue bushing & installed grease zerk on each side. Grease will stay in there a lot longer than 90 wt. oil. i rebuilt all my rollers like this. had to repair 3 shafts also. on bottom rollers i welded up oil holes on shaft & drilled through center of shaft and drilled through to center where bushings run & installed grease zerk where oil plug went. If you have the early style front idler with the spring loaded seals, I have a NOS front idler available. Check your casting number and get back to me if interested. Steve. www.sadygerts.com

Do you mean this ilder that is listed on your website? http://www.sadygerts.com/shop-parts/uncategorized/t340-td340-idler-nos/ I finally was able to get the website to work... it kept giving me an error saying that visitors from my country were not permitted to view the website?

That looks just like it... how much do you want for it?

Sorry about that. We have been having some issues with the site. I think we have most of them worked out. Contact me directly through our website for additional info. on that idler. Steve. www.sadygerts.com

I know this is a very old thread... but would you happen to have a link to these bushings? Mine are worn out and I am searching for a solution. Dad had mentioned your idea of finding a makeshift bushing and adding a grease zerk.

Welcome to the Forums.

You are asking a question of a couple members who it looks like may not have posted, at least by those usernames, since this thread was made in 2015. It looks like blueridge has posted withing the last month, hopefully he sees this and responds to you.

I am guessing blueridge went into one of Motions stores and told them what he was looking for and they found the bushings for him, so he won't have a link to them.

In general, it is best to start a new thread of your own. Some may see the date of the original thread and pass on by without reading it to the end, figuring it was solved long ago. Others may read a first post of a thread and make a reply to it, not the latest post, like yours.

Good luck

I found it practically impossible to make the correct oil seals work because they're spring loaded seals that need a smooth surfact on both sides: the hub and the outside frame. The latter is the problem and the thing you will really have to work at. I rebuilt the bore and put in a new pin and then switched from the recommended gear oil or Lubriplate 5555 and used a zerk and regular grease without any real seals.
