IH2424 loader/backhoe

Hi all, going to look at this tractor tomorrow, talked to the owner, know it has a bad gas engine
supposedly the oil pump locked up, chewed the teeth off the cam, broke #4 rod just off the crank, and
bent a pushrod or two, otherwise tractor is in good shape as well as the loader and hoe from what I saw
in pics, other than looking for broken/welded loader arms and booms, is there anything these tractors
are known for going bad, it even has decent rear tires. The tractor has the c146, from what I read a
c153 bolts in, but would I need to do something with the radiator?

If the backhoe uses a swing motor instead of cylinders, RUN, don't walk, away. That swing motor goes bad, and the backhoe is junk. Cylinders can be rebuilt. There are no parts for the swing motor as I understand it.

I've had my 2424 for over 30 years and never had any major issues - lots of little ones, but it is almost 60 years old. Works better than I do at that age. Mine only has around 2500 hrs on it, so that may be why I've had such good luck. I can't say that I know of any common problems with that model - I have watched this forum for quite a few years and look at every post on the 424/2424 or 444/2444 models. Should be some mechanics out there who would know.

Looked at it today, has the hydraulic motors for the backhoe swing, and looked around some, seems the 146 and 153s are a little rare around here. I passed on it.
