IH444 Grille Finish

Does anyone know if the IH444 Grille insert is supposed to be chrome plated, painted or are they bare? I cleaned mine up with a Scotch-brite pad and I don't know what to do with it next. It was a bit rusty at the bottom and kinda had that galvanized look to the rest of it prior to cleaning. Thanks!

If it is the tube or pipe type grille like the 56 series has I believe they were just galvanized. You can buy a galvanize spray paint that works pretty good for coating steel like that. I have used it on places I have welded or had or do some kind of repair that burned the galvanizing off. I used it on a transition I made for a bin and it has stayed on for a few years now. Will keep an eye on it to see how well it has worked in coming years.
