IHC 806 won't start

Good day all, having some issues with my 806 International.

To start I purchased tractor several years ago for the soul purpose to sit in one spot and run my processor. Tractor has shifter issues but that didn't matter as I was only using tractor as a power source,
so to speak. Well after sitting several years, and as with many of us we have to many projects to work on, I decided to get it running again but found it would not start or smoke at all.
After draining fuel and putting new fuel in I still couldn't get fuel past the pump either at the pump or up top at the cracked injector lines.
So I came to the conclusion that the old fuel had plugged up or seized parts inside the pump due to old fuel. Fast forward to getting pump rebuilt and reinstalling only to find still no fuel coming past the
pump with throttle in any position (same as prior to pump rebuilding).

Someone mentioned to me that maybe the return lines are plugged, so took off lines and blew them out as well as loosening return lines on top of the injectors.
So basically pump (rebiult) is on engine with all lines loose except fuel feed line which has lots of fuel coming out when loosened as well, and no fuel comes out of pump or up to injectors.
This is the Roosa master system as well, not the old RDW system.
Also should mention that injection shop did say they couldn't find anything that would have caused a no fuel issue, as they did with my MF 1135 that also had same issue, but a rebuilt pump, filters and new
fuel and that one is running nicely.
So I'm leaning towards that there's something else causing this that I'm just missing, as it's the same issue before and after rebuilt pump??????

Any have any ideas as to what might be the issue?

Thanks
Doug

Yeah I'm lost on this one, no fuel past pum0 before and after pump work.
I'm thinking possible pump issue still, but baffling for sure.

Yes lots of fuel to pump, remove fuel line fro. Filters to pump and it's pouring out with lots of flow. But still not a speck out the injector lines, or where the lines bolt onto the pump

Are you sure it's turning
Also there are timing marks under plate on side need be lined up but first I would pull it make sure everything in side front is ok you may have more problems than pump
Not master mechanic but if you have fuel in none out is it being driven or is something not lined up correctly

with todays junky diesel i would say u need a pump overhaul or cleaning. sitting years tells the story.dont listen to them someones, if u dont have fuel shooting out the lines at injectors why even worry about return lines. diesel tech here will tell u also. plus the old fuel is better than this garbage fuel and there is no reason to change it. i have burned 30 year old fuel sitting in my 560 and it even had the old diesel smell not like this stuff. unless u have a diesel disease, diesel is not the problem. u have a stuck thingy in the pump, cant think of the word i am looking for.

Hello quadcent and out to pasture welcoming the both of you to YT! Where out to pasture took you is where I would have went, is the pump turning? Secondly, did you simply stop using it or was there other issues that started the long hiatus?

rustred.. I applaud your thorough read of the OPs post. He did indeed have the pump rebuilt..!

Well dang me, guess u werent as tired as me. But it still appears like the pump is the problem. Should be manual shut down, throttle wide open and no fuel is what u say .Is it electric shut down ? Which it should not be but it could be. Even if return was plugged, you still will have fuel to injectors. So yes is the pump turning ? Pump gotta turn to pump, dont matter if timed or not. Surely that must have been verified that it is rotating.? Did a reputable shop do this work ? Even if pump was turned over on the bench test it would be pumping. Did they do that ?

First check timing on pump to flywheel then check the marks align in the window on the pump. then since you say you have plenty of fuel at the pump look to see if you have the lines on backwards so the supply is not going to the intake side of the pump and the filters are plumbed correctly. Since you say you have had these things apart and blew them out and I can't see it from here I can only guess you had the lines off to blow them out and maybe didn't get them back on the same as they were originally. Now if that all checks out good then you might be 180 out on the pump. I would not expect that to stop up the fuel flow to injectors just make then off so fuel delivery and compression are on different times.

Was the pump RUN on a test stand, or just looked at with the top cover off? If the rotor plungers are stuck like I see on pumps a LOT lately it will need completely torn down to get it working again. Pump IS turning too, I hope?

Thanks for the info, the only lines I removed were the return lines and even them I just disconnnected them and blew them back and immediately secured them back the same way.

And yes I can see the timing issue, but pump was removed with timing marks lined up and reinstalled the same. As you said though with lines on injectors loosened there's still
no fuel coming out, so technically even if it was a timing issue there should still be fuel coming out????

Hello,
Yes I'm leaning towards the pump still being the issue. There isn't a seperate manual shutoff but it's on the throttle lever, all the way one way shuts it off, then accelerates as moved the other way.
Pump is turning as I've removed the side inspection cover/timing mark cover and pump is turning inside.
Yes a reputable shop did the work on it, been using them for over 30+years but everything is pointing towards the pump being the issue still.
Will be calling them today to discusss it with them.

How full is your tank it might have fuel flowing to look at but not enough to keep a steady flow to the pump. And when you had the pump off you had to disconnect the lines. Reason I was asking if they could be on backwards with furl flowing to the wrong port. Or even not flowing right from the tank to pump via the filters I'm thinking this is a long shot but I would check those lines and maybe see if you can see if the pump shaft in the pump is not twisted off since the pump work. IF the pump was not done recently like the last month or so then good chance it is stuck again.

A real left field possibility, did you change the starter? Is it cranking the engine the right direction? Not sure what application would have a reverse rotation starter, with rebuilts these days who knows.

Welp i have been stayen out of this , BUT once i ran into and issue on a 806 After a pump rebuild . I fought it and fought it into the wee hours of the morning tryen to get this tractor back up and running . I had the pump so i thought timed and the two dots on the pump shaft and the inside of the pump lined up along with the timeing marks in the window . Timing marks on the flywheel were at where they were suppose to be . ----- so i thought . at 1:30 in the morning out in a field i went thru the effort to remove the valve cover and found that i was TDC on #6 and NOT #1 but the dots lined up . I brought the engine up on #1 and placed the dots 180 out and low and behold the tractor started and ran . Is this your problem , i don't know it is something to think about . Yep i know pulling the valve cover is a pain on a 806 and if ya do NOW is the time to run the valves as i am sure they need reset.
