IHC 884 4X4 TRACTOR

Look at the link below, there is a User TeachersPet1066 that has one with an IH 2255 Quick Attach loader on it.

My brother has 5 of the smaller versions, 454,495,474,684,3230 with 2250 loader all 2WD.
Neighbor had a CIH 4230 4WD with loader(same tractor but two series newer than 884) for many years and eventually traded for a larger size Kubota 4WD with loader but he says the 4230 was better tractor than the Kubota other than cab and FWD/N/REV shift on the go.

My comment is 'keep the radiator clean' - I believe the radiators are marginally sized. And the brake piston seals can go bad. It is a big job, but not difficult to replace them. I had a 485, a smaller tractor in that series and it was a good tractor, except for those issues. I bought a Kubota M7040 and I think the 485 had better hydraulics. Mark.

Any and all discussion about any 84 series, 85 series, 95 series, applies. They're good, simple tractors, as long as you buy one that has been maintained and used reasonably. Condition is everything. Don't buy a clapped-out, beat-up heap expecting miracles. If you're good at scrounging for parts and improvising (because some parts are hard to come by), a "project" tractor can be a lot of fun and sometimes a good deal.
