Implement question

I want to thank everyone for your help.

I’ve learned that Cat one is an overall set of dimensions - I assumed it was just the pin size. Only thing I need to be concerned about it weight and keep that dow, which makes sense.
thank you again, I’m sure I’ll be back.

If they say an implement is Cat 1 it will work on the TO30. Cat 0, 2, 3, or 4 won't. If they don't say the category, you should ask. The manufacturer is not important, category size is.

As for the plow bottoms. A one bottom plow makes one furrow at a time, a two bottom plow makes two, etc. I labeled the pictures of the one and two bottom plows for you. The 57 plow picture is a 3-bottom roll over plow. When you come to the end you pick it up and spin the bottoms 180 so you can plow right back alongside the furrow you just made.

Hi. I did intend to type "CAT #1 (dash) -- 2 bottom". My bad, maybe. I trust that if you get a reasonable Cat #1------- TWO bottom that you and your tractor will be pleased. Good luck--- "Eric P--OUT"

This is the original Ferguson 2-bottom that came with my 1940 9N. Coulters are off as was doing vegetable garden with no sod/trash. Does a great job on garden but I've done sod too.

Any of the Cat 1 Ferguson or Ford stuff made for the Ford Ns or Fergusion TO-20/30/35 are perfect fit, probably better made than any new stuff now. The plow, disc/springer harrows, scoop bucket , etc came with my N when I got it.

I needed a rotary cutter, and got the 5' 40hp rated Howse, it is a perfect fit. No problems with that except for welding cracks from hitting rocks/stumps/logs etc.

Get limiter chains, sway bars, and ORC that adapts to 1 3/8" shaft PTO equipment

Hi. You are vague as to what you need. Good news- you have a standard (H. F. invented the standard) 3 point hitch. I have a 20, and a MF 35. You have 70 + yrs of good stuff to select! Should spin a nice 5 foot finish mower, 4 foot brush hog-5 foot if you go easy, 2 bottom plow, et cetera. Also- get a good draw bar, and all that need a simple draw bar will work. You want the standard 1 1/16, or 1 1/8- I forgot- spline PTO. An adaptor will work if you have the old little guy. Can change easily if reqd., common job. Others will demand an over-ride pto clutch for a brush-hog , etc. Sober adults get along fine without same, for 70 yrs.! I like good original stuff- Furg, or Ford plows, Woods Finish or "Brush Hog" mowers++. Tractor Supply ++ has the China stuff. Probably workable, not for me as quality used the same price, and new can pay for itself.
Hi back, it’s been almost a month now since I posted this and I didn’t understand most of what you said in your reply! I’m happy to say that I’m now starting to talk tractor and I think I understand most of what you said. Great info, now!

Very good, and good little tractor. Been using my little tO20 for over a 1/4 century, including with a 2 bottom plow and a double gang of disks. Now semi retired as my MF 35 does the harder work. As reqd. , take time in setting up your plow- as in center link length and all. Prep and practice and an OK plow job can be a "those rotor tillers are for total sissies " affair. You are a bit light if soil hard. Running chains year round can't hurt .

Install a Zane Thang and pertronix electronic ignition. Make sure you have a rubber cup on the shifter base to keep out stuff. An ORC is mandatory for safety. Remember to close the gas line under the tank after each use. Happy farming!
