increasing loader height??

On my farm, I have a Moline 670 super with a Swartz front end loader. I make compost from leaves and manure, bad hay, spoiled grain etc. I"m trying to speed up the handling, mixing and windrowing of all the stuff. One problem I face all the time is that my loader just won"t go high enough to easily clear the sides of my stake body dump. Now I"m considering adding an old tmr mixer to the operation to do the mixing and windrowing, but it"s sides are about 6" higher than the one ton dump. Basically, I"d like the loader to raise about another 18". I"ve tried the trick where you pile up some dirt for the front wheels to ride up, but the problem is that I"m likely to load at any location on the farm, and don"t want a bunch of ramps. Am I wanting something that just wasn"t done on old iron, or are there ways to safely modify the loader to get it to go higher? Little brother is a welder, so I have some help there.

Neighbor loads oil filters on an end dump trailer wit a 33 massey and shwartz. I made him a ramp to run the tricycle front up on. He needed to gain about 20" Then welded some round chain hooks on the ramp so he just slips bucket in hooks and carries it anywhere he wants.

Might take a bit of doing, but could you convert your loader to a "front tip" style instead of the back pivot that you have now?? Go see some industrial type loaders equipped that way to see how they operate and the clearance gained.

Good luck!!

You need to come up with some type of frame that moves the bucket at least 18 inches forward, maybe more, considering the angle of the boom. Not that hard to do- maybe a square box frame that mounts to the boom, and carries the bucket 20 inches or more forward? Extra length on the boom will decrease load capacity, but maybe that is not an issue.

look at a quicke loader brochure They make a bucket set up like you are looking for. It will give you a good ideal. hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies folks. I'm mulling them over, as well as looking at some old iron made just for loading. Don't I need another thing to keep running?
