info on 404

Hi. There is a 404 for sale locally and i wondered how available parts are for this tractor . Also , what are the weak points ? Hate to waste money on something i can't get parts for or is not able to get work done .

The 404 is not a common tractor, made in the thousands, not the hundreds of thousands like its predecessor the C and Super C. It has some parts that are unique to it, that are difficult if not impossible to find.

If the tractor is complete, fully functional, doesn't make any strange noises, and you don't plan on thrashing it, you probably won't need any of the hard to find parts. Ignition parts are the common IH 4-cylinder parts that go clear back to the letter series. O-rings, seals, bearings can be cross-referenced. Some of the hydraulic parts can be cross-referenced to other tractors.

Will this tractor even do what you want to do? It does not have live PTO so you need to take that into account.

Thanks for the answer about the 404 . The tractor is not running so that is a problem to tell the condition of it . No live PTO is not good . I guess i'll pas on it . If anyone else is interested in it for $350.00 , i'll pass on the info to you .

I own a 404 utility. I could use some parts for it!! Please get back to me on this thread. I live in north Texas. Thanks!!
