Sure not how The CAV DPA training school taught us years ago in Michigan...I'm waiting for a re-seal kit to arrive for my non-running 135 before I tackle taking the cover off and trying to find out why it's not putting fuel to the injectors. I've never done this job before but I'm gonna tackle it soon.
There are many videos on YouTube showing how to re-seal these pumps. After watching a couple I have to say it doesn't look to be a difficult job if one has any mechanical aptitude.

It's not calibrated to verify the governor works correctly, and the full load delivery is right. There's an O ring on the shaft that seals INSIDE the drive hub that need replaced too. These pumps are getting old enough that who knows what has been done on them in the past, Why I tear them completely down and start over as I don't know what Bubba junior has done inside, and then I'm asked to get it working again.

You would be surprised at the number of pumps I get in for repair after the owner says "I've had it apart three times and it still won't work"...I'd like to explain that the reason I said it was a good video was due to it being well shot and well explained without any unnecessary babbling and annoying music playing.
Now, if it has inaccuracies in it, that's a different story.

You can do what you want, but having been repairing pumps over forty years and still working on them I WILL NOT do a patch job as I've been caught too many times with, YOU JUST WORKED ON IT AND IT'S LEAKING AGAIN when a customer insists that's all it needs, then gets ticked because another leak started soon after the "Patch job" was done.So you're telling me to not mess with sealing it
Just take it to a shop instead?

If it helps, I had one that cooked in the Texas sun long enough that the seals dried and it dumped diesel into the crankcase. Diesel tech rebuilt for less than half what the local shop wanted, shipping included. Quick response when I had a question on reassembly. 2 years and 200 hours later, still going strong.So you're telling me to not mess with sealing it

Best get a service manual, that pump DOES NOT come off like other Perkins engines that can be done without setting the timing. If I recall there's a drill spot in the front of the injection pump for a 5/16 drill bit to ALIGN the pump drive hub notch with BEFORE removing the gear from the hub. DO NOT REMOVE THE HUB!!! there's NO key for alignment and MUST BE REMOVED/REPLACED by the fuel pump repairman.I have MF 231S with a Delphi injector pump that started leaking through the weep hole. It was dripping at a pretty good rate. The tractor sat for a month and this past weekend I started it up and it wasn't leaking until about after an hour of light use. Now it's not dripping but there is some fuel seeping out of the weep hole. I bought a shop manual to see how to remove it but low and behold it didn't include the section on the engine/fuel system. Can anyone tell me how to remove the pump or have that section of a shop manual to share with me? I want to take or send the pump to dieseltech for seal replacement (if you're still doing them). Thanks.
