I wanted to clean the rolers & plungers on my pump, but I have'nt got the right tool.
Anyone know what tool is needed and what size it is ?

Also.

What is the relevance of the OFF mark ?

and do the numbers mean anything relevant ?

Thanks, Mike

If the plungers are not stuck, clean it up and leave it be. The OFF is the direction to spin the rotor for removal, needs a special spanner or it WILL be ruined by distortion. Don't worry about the numbers..

The rotor will/has to come off IN THAT direction. AND HAS TO BE torqued back on w/ a special tool.
DO NOT try to take it off w/ a screwdriver.!! it will bust into 2 pieces.
DO NOT take the 2 12pt screws out.!! they are the fuel delivery hold down screws.. you get that off & its gonna cost you hundreds $$ to get it fixed..
Your in over your head my friend..

When it comes to major fuel injection stuff thepumpguysc, and Dieseltech are two people you want to listen to, they know what they are talking about!

As I understand it. As long as you mark the exact position of the disk that regulates the amount of travel of the rolers, and put it back exactly the same position then it should be ok.

I don't really want to take it apart, but the rollers are / were a bit stiff and I assume that the reason why it does'nt pump is that the plunjers are not moving freely.

The other point is that it does'nt work anyway. A new pump costs 400 euro's, but if I take it for repair they'll probably charge even more or say it's knackered !

Still like to know the name of the tool. Looks like external torx, but I don't think torx was'nt invented then ?

I agree 100% with what your saying, but the sad truth is that you know what your talking about, whereas there are very few people with experience at repair shops and they'd rather sell a new one anyway.

Maybe I'm a bit cynical .. ?

It's been soaking for a bit and been bumped gently, so I'll check if it pumps now.

Without the right tool, I dont have many options. If the plunjers are still stuck, would it be ok to try carb cleaner to try and clear the residue ?

Thank you for your input. Your advice is very welcome. I'll keep you posted.

Mike.
