NH TV 140 that needed bled several months ago. Wouldn't start, bleed injectors, starts right up, runs fine. Shut it off & immediate restart, runs fine. Next morning won't start again until its bled. No leaks seen in the lines, no fuel on the ground. Rubber line coming out of the back of the injection pump had a leak about an inch back from the metal line, cut the hose off & clamp the line back on. Think that is the return line. Nuts on the injectors are tight. Any ideas?

Got an air leak. Will not necessarily leave fuel on the ground. Check/replace all rubber hoses and check fuel filter gaskets. Fords up to a point had a diaphragm hand primer that caused trouble . Many times an air leak will be very lightly damp with fuel. Wash the engine off clean and then pay attention to where the dirt sticks.

My 8240 was doing that. I snugged all the connectors up. It was good for a few years up to when I sold it.

My uncle's skidder did this. It was a leaky fuel line in in the tank that was the culprit. Might have been the return..i can't remember, but definitely an air leak like FM says.

Had the same problem with a Massey 165 diesel years ago. Turned out to be a cracked diaphragm in the fuel transfer pump putting air into the system.
