inline fuel shutoff question

I just replaced a leaking fuel shutoff at the tank. As others have suggested I would like to leave it open and use an inline shutoff. I just purchased one but after getting home I realize that the actual inner diam. of the valve is quite a bit smaller than the 5/16 diam. of the line it is in. Now I'm wondering if there will be adequate fuel flow. I would say it's only about half the diam. of the hose. What do you all think? '63 4000 gasser.
Thanks, Mark

low is not only a function of an orifice diameter, but also a function of the length of orifice, so it may not matter much. Test it with same gravity feed, both with & w/o valve (temporary lash up) by allowing it to run into a pint, quart, whatever container & measure time to fill. Generally accepted rule of thumb is fill a pint in under 2 minutes is sufficient for these old tractors.

I don't think it will be a problem, think how small the passage is in the needle seat in the carb.
