Input shaft leak

I know I have to remove the input shaft housing and to do si I need to remove the live ptoshaft to allow the gars to drop down low enough so the housing will clear. How do I remove the shaft and bearring housing from the trans?

Serial number has been lost to time, the paint is green and greay with dual clutch. Trans has a ID number of " HF 180-402-M1". Any suggestions would help greatly, waiting for the shop manual to arrive still and guessing as I go.

I'm not sure but I believe the "HF 180-402-M1" is just the part number of the cast iron case. Don't know that it will give you any info as to what you have in it. If you ordered the same book that I got from YT they can be a little confusing because of all the different option a tractor can have. So is your tractor a Harrison/Ferguson. Just wondering if that is the meaning of the HF.

It's a TO 35 painted green and gray, to my under standing it was manufactured in both Harrison and Massey factories at the time. With I had the serial number.

What I have learned is you can narrow in on the serial number range to tell how old it is by identifying the parts used inside. Every year something is changed, That you can see in the parts list of the diagram. You see a letter after a part number it tell you which serial number range it was used. The diagram I sent you earlier was for the MF 180. But I bet the part numbers will be the same, Time will tell when you get your books.

that was an absolute nightmare to get apart, manufactured the tools as per the drawings provided and got it back together. Just finnished installing the two seals for the layshaft but I am having difficulty re-mating the two haves by my self. Splines are lined up as the gears for the trans and pto are engaged but the pilot bearring seems to be a little off.

I have pulled the two half's back apart and re used the alignment tool, everything seems aligned. I must not have the correct angle?

May I ask, is the pilot bearing a new bearing? If so,did you check the PILOT bearing for a fit on the Input shaft before you installed the bearing? I always use lineup pins, threaded into he bell housing, and a tape measure to assure the bell housing is parallel with the aft of the engine.
I also use a jack as per picture.
Also, use some lubrication on the part of the shaft that enters the pilot bearing.
With the Transmission in Neutral, and the pto lever engaged, turn the pto with a wrench to assist the splines to align with the clutch plate.
"IF" you are sure the PILOT BEARING is the correct I/D size, install several puller bolts into the Transmission bell housing.

I checked the pilot bearing and it was in great shape so I left it there, I did pull the clutch apart for cleaning as it was soaked in oil. Used the alignment tool before and durring reassembly. Have a feeling it's just a little off and I'm going to have to play with it.
