Installing a MCV pump

I am getting ready to put a new MCV pump back on my 706. My question is the big gasket between the plate and the transmission
housing thickness critical. The original can't be reused and was thing about making one from gasket material that I have but it is
a little thicker than what was originally on the tractor.

Do it right and get a MCV gasket kit. It will have the gaskets and O-rings you need The gasket will be of the correct thickness and with holes in all the right places.

And WHY are you replacing the MCV pump ??? Do you know for sure that the pump is bad ??????? Have you got down into the MCV springs and check spring lenght ?? and check spring tension ????/ . NO you do not Make MCV gskt's YOU BUY a gskt KIT that comes with the O/Rings since you disturbed them now you replace them . If your thinking that replacing the pump will solve a T/A problem that is highly unlikely .

I would normally make my gaskets though I do buy the MCV gasket. The problem I have is getting the TA delete gasket. Most places don't have or offer that gasket except the dealer. Make sure to check for pulled bolt threads on the surfaces before reassembly and all is flat with a straightedge. I use a file and smooth it before reassembly prevents leaks from where somebody has used a chisel in the past to get it off the dowels.
