installing rear hubs

I have had my 48 8n for 40 years. I discovered this forum many years ago and have learned a lot. Ive replaced the rear axle seals by using mostly John Smiths article. One hub was worn so I went ahead and replaced both. I cant get them on all the way even with a hammer and block of wood. They are about 1/8 inch from being flush with the axle. Do I call it good enough and recheck it after driving a while or do I need to make some adjustments? Thanks

Daleiniowa ,1/8" is good, just check and re tighten them 400ftlbs after using it awhile.
