You are correct, woods tractor's take a beating. In the 50s and early 60s dad and grandpa used a pair of FMDs to skid hardwoods. They bucked the logs in the woods. You, just back the tractor up to the bucked logs and set a pair of tongs, lifted the three point and away you went. In the winter they ran chains on one and halftracks on the other. In the mid 60s they bought a C4 Treefarmer. They traded in one FMD and brought the other home to the farm. It was kind of spooky driving a tractor that had killed a worker in a logging accident. Those English fords are tough, just pull it up right and it was good to go, they did get a new hood. Our C4 had a English ford diesel, most had Detroit's.
