Guy selling a ol ford had this picture in the ad. Said something with starter and battery went wrong... any idea what would cause this. I have never seen it!

I have. Once. Bendix bound up on the flywheel teeth. and when the guy revved the engine up, the bendix gear disintegrated and got wedged between the housing and starter shaft. Messed up the flywheel too.
