International 1100 mower

Not too long ago I purchased an 1100 mower, and I have a question. Trying to get it working with my Oliver 880. Problem is in adjusting the pro shaft, it's currently a bit short. Judging by the marks on the pto cover it is adjustable, but it had been outside for awhile and I think it's rusted together. What I can't figure out, and the manual I have doesn't say, is how do I remove the covers? This is only the second sickle mower I've owned, the other being a JD #5.

Thanks

You push down on the tops of the clips poking out through the slots in the shields by the bell ends. That compresses the clip & you can push the shield away from the yoke & off the shaft. Be sure to clean the crud out of the inside of the bell behind the yoke where the tube is attached or the clip may not want to move. You might be able to pull the shafts out of the tubes that way if the shafts themselves aren't also stuck together.
