International 186

I am looking at buying a 186 Hydro, and I was wanting to see what everyone thought about this tractor. The transmission has been completely rebuilt. Would anyone know how long (how many hours) a transmission typically lasts in one of these? Thanks for the help.

Hydros are great. My 826H has 6500 hrs on the tranny and pulls as good as a new one. The secret is to keep good clean oil and
filters in it. Change the trans oil occationally. Use HyTran oil, too.

I would be a little skeptical. If the hydro was just "completely rebuilt" why is the owner selling it? Having the hydro completely rebuilt is not a cheap proposition, and isn't something you're going to get your money back from at sale time.

Also, who did the work? Anyone can pull a few bolts out and poke a screwdriver around in the internals of a hydro, and call it "rebuilt" but it takes a certain skill set to come out with something that works and is reliable.
