International 2500B. Backhoe.

I have a friend with an IH 2500B he wants to sell but the swing stopped working. Everything else on it works great but the swing. I ordered a manual off eBay and it wasn’t complete. I know it runs off the steering pump but the steering works well. I’m not sure of what to check on the Mcv. The boom holds When the control is in neutral position and you can push it side to side when the lever is pulled. Has anyone dealt with these. I’m more familiar with older ford machines

I had much the same thing happen to my backhoe many years ago (not a Ford). I searched for valve problems etc but eventually found that one of the swing cylinders had come apart inside, this allowed for the hyd. oil to bypass and consequently no swing function and yes, to manually push the hoe from side to side was no problem. It was a straightforward fix once the cylinder was disassembled.
